Which CogAT level will my child take?

CogAT offers different levels for students in different grades. Read through the answer to know which level your child should take as per grade.

CogAT measures the mental level and helps gain insights into a child’s brain by analysing its problem-solving skills and aims to focus on general brain functionalities.

It is also used as a screening test to identify students with gifted and underdeveloped brains.

Levels of CogAT as per Grade:

Different levels of this test are advised for students in different grades. The division of levels in grades and also the time duration and the number of questions is as follows:

  • In Kindergarten, the child has to take level 5/6 of the CogAT which has 118 questions to be solved within 112 minutes.

  • In 1st Grade, the child has to take level 7 of the CogAT which has 136 questions to be solved within 112 minutes.

  • In 2nd Grade, the child has to take level 8 of the CogAT which has 154 questions to be solved within 122 minutes.

  • In 3rd Grade, the child has to take level 9 of the CogAT which has 170 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

  • In 4th Grade, the child has to take level 10 of the CogAT which has 176 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

  • In 5th Grade, the child has to take level 11 of the CogAT which has 176 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

  • In 6th Grade, the child has to take level 12 of the CogAT which has 176 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

  • In 7th-8th Grade, the child has to take level 13/14 of the CogAT which has 176 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

  • In 9th-10th Grade, the child has to take level 15/16 of the CogAT which has 176 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

  • In 11th-12th Grade, the child has to take level 17/18 of the CogAT which has 176 questions to be solved within 90 minutes.

Thus, the candidates are required to take CogAT of the prescribed level above.
