CogAT is a test used to measure the cognitive development and mental strength of students from kindergarten to grade 12th. Majorly conducted in schools and educational institutions to measure the mental capacity of a student.
CogAT measures the following abilities of an Individual:
This test includes questions from the following sections as explained below.
Verbal Skillset: This section deals with the verbal ability of the applicant. Simple activities such as sentence completion, analysing pictures and drawing similarities between them. Thus, analysing the cognitive functionalities of the child.
Qualitative Skillset: The Qualitative section of this exam deals with measuring mathematical skills and the familiarity of the candidate with numbers. Thus, analysing the thinking skills of the candidate appearing for it as CogAT is not a specific knowledge test, thus provides a clear view of the mental ability of the child appearing for it.
Non-Verbal Skillset: This section includes tasks such as solving basic puzzles, recognising different patterns, solving number matrices, thus analysing the individual’s abilities in on-verbal form.
Thus, by analysing all these aspects of an individual’s brain, CogAT helps to identify the special needs of certain candidates for their betterment.
