Groww demat account cannot be closed online. Neither can it be deleted. So, you have to fill and submit the form offline. And even before initiating the closure process, you have to check if any dues are outstanding or transfer is pending. If yes, then you have to wait and clear it.

You can try closing online by dropping an email at “support@groww.in” or via calling their helpline number. Though there is no guarantee but if your reason is genuine, they can consider the request. In the email mention your DP number in the subject line.

Beautiful!
Can my request be rejected if my reason for closing the account will not be a geniune one ?

I went through a similar process earlier, and making sure there were no pending shares or charges saved a lot of back-and-forth. It’s a good reminder that unused demat accounts can quietly add to costs if left unattended.

To close your Groww Demat account, first ensure you have no holdings, open positions, pending funds, SIPs, or dues—sell or transfer all shares and withdraw any balance.

Most important thing —

You can’t close your Demat account with active holdings — you must sell or transfer them first.

No closure fee is usually charged and it takes about 7–15 business days, so download all statements and tax documents before closing.
